Overview

This document provides step-by-step instructions for joining a BluVector collector to the BluVector Central Manager. The Central Manager serves as the centralized control and administration hub for managing all BluVector appliances across your network. Joining a collector enables it to communicate with the Central Manager for coordinated threat detection and response.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the BluVector Central Manager with administrative credentials.
  • Hostname and credential information for the collector to be joined.
  • Network connectivity between the Central Manager and the collector.
  • The Central Manager is accessible on port 9090.

Joining a Collector to the Central Manager

Step 1: Access the Central Manager

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to the BluVector Central Manager URL on port 9090 (e.g., https://<central-manager-ip>:9090).
  2. Log in using your administrative credentials.

Step 2: Add a New Collector

  1. In the Central Manager interface, locate the left panel.
  2. Click BV Join to access the collector management section.
  3. Select Add Collectors from the available options.

Step 3: Enter Collector Details

  1. In the Add Collectors form, enter the following information:
    • Hostname: The hostname or IP address of the collector.
    • Credentials: The administrative credentials required to authenticate the collector.
  2. Verify the entered details for accuracy.
  3. Click Join to initiate the connection process.

Step 4: Verify Collector Status

  1. To check the status of the collector:
    • Click the Question Mark icon next to the collector in the Central Manager interface, or
    • Click View Status in the top panel of the Central Manager dashboard.
  2. The status will display as Joined once the collector has successfully connected to the Central Manager.

Troubleshooting

  • Connection Failure: Ensure the collector’s hostname and credentials are correct and that network connectivity is established.
  • Status Not Updating: Refresh the Central Manager interface or check the collector’s network configuration.
  • Port Issues: Verify that port 9090 is open and accessible for the Central Manager.
